DL-101 General Course on Intellectual Property

Course Outline: Delivered via the Internet, this course comprises twelve modules:

  1. Guide to Studying the Course
  2. Introduction to IP
  3. Copyright
  4. Related Rights
  5. Trademarks
  6. Geographical Indications
  7. Industrial Design
  8. Patents
  9. WIPO Treaties
  10. Unfair Competition
  11. Protection of New Varieties of Plants
  12. Summary and Discussion on IP Rights

Students must submit a final exam before completing the course. 

Target Audience: Government officials, staff in collective management societies, business managers in publishing, broadcasting and industry, students in faculties of law, business, chemistry, engineering, journalism, etc. needing a basic knowledge of IP.

Timeframe: This course involves about 50 hours of study time over a period of six weeks.  Tutorial assistance is provided by in-house experts via the course administrator.  The course is offered two times a year in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
