FAQs during registration period (DL101)
What does the course code mean?
The combination of letters and numbers for each course stands for the course type (e.g. 101 for the General Course on Intellectual Property), the language (e.g. E for English), the year in which the session will take place (eg: 09 for 2009) and the semester in which the session will take place (e.g. S1 for the session taking place in the first semester of that year).
Therefore, 101E09S1, for instance, corresponds to the General Course on Intellectual Property, English version, session of the first semester of 2009.
How do I enroll?
To enroll to the next session of the DL101 General Course on Intellectual Property please follow the steps below:
- Go to http://academy.wipo.int during registration period;
- Select English;
- Click on "Enroll now" on the right of the DL101 course description;
- Click in the box next to course code which you wish to enroll for and click on "Enroll now" in the bottom of the page;
- Click on "Confirm";
- Insert your access codes, if you have enrolled for a DL101 course in a previous session, or click on "Register now" (please note that this system does not recognize access codes granted for the DL001 course other language versions of courses from the Academy);
- Fill in the registration form with your personal information;
- Click on "Next" at the bottom of the page;
- Wait for the email confirming your registration.
If you don't receive this email within the next 48 hours of enrolling, and if your email address in the confirmation page is correct and your email filter is set up to always authorize messages from this mailbox, please contact us at this mailbox.
Once your registration process is concluded, you will receive your access codes shortly before the beginning of the course.
I’m trying to click on “enroll now” next to the DL101 course title but it doesn’t open!
If you can't register from the web site, please access http://academy.wipo.int/english, click on "courses"on the left of the page, select the course code that you wish to take and carry on with your registration from there.
I can't enroll to the DL101E course with the access codes I had received before for another course from the Distance Learning program
The DL101 registration system does not recognize passwords provided for the DL001 course or other language versions of distance learning courses offered by the Academy. Therefore, if you have never enrolled in the DL101 course (or any of the advanced courses), you need to register as a new student.
I gave the wrong address/ name in the registration form. Can you change it for me?
The course administration can't make modifications to the data provided by the students.
Once the course is made available, please go to your profile after logging in (you will find the shortcut for profile in the menu on the left of your screen), make all necessary modifications and click on "modify" when you are done.
I enrolled for this course today, and already received a confirmation message. What should I do now?
There is nothing else you should do apart from setting your mailbox to always authorize incoming messages from DL101e.academy@wipo.int and keeping an eye on the date the session is supposed to start.
If you receive the confirmation of registration email, you should receive your access codes within two weeks after enrolling, and an access code reminder at the beginning of the session.
Can I access the course contents before the session starts?
No. You will only have access to the course contents from the date foreseen for the session to begin.
I enrolled for the course more than two weeks ago but I haven't received my access codes yet. Am I correctly enrolled?
As the course administrator has to complete each registration manually, it might take over two weeks for the access codes to reach you.
If you have not received your access codes within two days of the start of the session, please write to DL101e.academy@wipo.int forwarding the email of confirmation of registration, and we will look up your registration.
