Investigations

Member States have authorized the Investigations Section of the Internal Audit and Oversight Division (IAOD) to carry out investigations under the authority of the Internal Oversight Charter .   Like many other UN Organisations, Funds, Programmes and Specialised Agencies, IAOD carries out its investigations in accordance with the Uniform Guidelines for Investigations 2003, which were recently superceeded by the Uniform Guidelines 2009 (2nd edition).

The Investigation Section Annual Activity Report is prepared each year for the Director General and provides an overview of the Section and it’s activity and achievements in the previous year, plus it’s challenges for the year ahead:

The Investigation Procedures Manual was published in August 2010. The Manual includes information on IAOD investigative techniques, methods and procedures followed by the Investigation Section. It is made available to enable staff to have a good understanding of the investigation process and procedure.
