【WJO’s Events & Activities】2014 Patent Information Fair & Conference

One of the largest of its kind, the Patent Information Fair and Conference, which attracted over 18,400 visitors, was held in Tokyo from 5 – 7 November 2014, hosted in collaboration with the Japan Patent Information Organization, the Japan Institute for Promoting Invention and Innovation, Fuji Sankei Business-i, and the Sankei Shinbun. A longstanding participant, as in past years WIPO presented PATENTSCOPE and other services at its booth and through conference presentations. In the conference, Mr. Masaki Okamoto, a Counsellor (Acting Head) at the WJO, made a presentation on WIPO’s efforts from the viewpoint of IP information and Ms. Sandrine Ammann, Marketing and Communications Officer from WIPO headquarters, made a presentation on an overview of PATENTSCOPE. At the WIPO booth, Mr. Okamoto and Ms. Amman promoted PATENTSCOPE, and Mr. James Phillips, Head, PCT Translation Services, and Ms. Sally Young, Head, Asian Language Section, promoted other WIPO services, such as the newly launched WIPO Pearl multilingual terminology portal. Mr. Jonah Asher, Associate Research Officer at the WJO, and Ms. Momoko Iwahashi, Administrative Assistant at the WJO, assisted in managing the booth, distributing WIPO informational materials, and helping answer visitors’ questions. Many people visited the WIPO booth and learned more about PATENTSCOPE and other WIPO services.
